Hello,

I found a very nice article about the Japanese Diet. As most know, the japanese are known for longevity of life. They still do eat a lot of carbs but also - as this article points out, focus on eating many vegetables and often in a very pure, less raw sense.

As a primal person, how do you feel about the Japanese diet? Why do they live so long and do so well? Personally, I think they are healthy because:

1) Smaller portions
2) purer food
3) lots of veggies and healthy fats/meats

I don't think eating white rice is a big deal.

Well, genetically, they are different than Europeans.... their bodies are well adapted to eating rice. Is what my answer would be.

I'm sure rice is better than the gluten grains, but I typically avoid it (and all other grains, gluten or otherwise) due to their high carb content. I'd rather have more veggies. :)

I do think there's much to be said for smaller portions, as compared to what most Americans are accutomed to seeing on their plates.

the health of the okinawans cant just be attributed to food.....although I reckon when the study was begun their access to junk food would have been extremely limited...lack of stress, environmental stress, and exercise,( I believe they walk and bicycle) would be big supporting factors in their healthy lifestyle. Its never just about food, its about balance.
