Hey all!

My name is Adam, I'm 31, and active-duty Army (armor/cavalry officer). I'm stationed at Fort Lewis, WA.

How I stumbled here is a little long and convoluted - but BLUF:

I got back from Afghanistan in February - after having a desk job in an operations center for 8 months. 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, I listened to radios and nugged on a computer. I did not see the sun for the vast majority of that time. I was in "ok" shape when I deployed (I'm 6'4", and have always been strong) but when I got home, I was 274 pounds. My 2-mile run time was the slowest it has EVER been. I had gone to the gym religiously, but after months of little sleep, living off of Rip-It energy drinks and NO Xplode (and whatever other lifting suppliment was en vogue at the time) and really awful, shelf-stable food, I was in rough shape. My blood pressure was ridiculous, and I wasn't at my best. 274 was the heaviest I had EVER been, and I did not like what I was seeing in the mirror. I was embarassed to go to my hometown on leave, for fear of people seeing me in my state.

Time for a change!

So I did some research. I talked to some friends - and stumbled on the Paleo diet and the Primal Blueprint. It made a LOT of sense to me. So while I was on leave, I figured I'd give it a go.

While not 100% all the time, I've eased into the transition, and I'm at 90%-ish now. It's been almost 3 months (jeez time flies!) since I got back, and I stepped on the scale this morning at 256. I'm feeling better than ever, and I don't feel like I"m dieting really - much more like I'm just living. My lifts are gradually getting stronger, and I'm faster than I've been in a long time.

Looking forward to getting to know folks on here and expanding my knowledge base!
