Does anyone else in here prefer dating other primal people (or at least people open to becoming primal)? Since converting my life to purely primal about a year ago, I have kept my eyes open for, and tend to like, primal guys better! Plus, two primal people really know how to make the most out of a great meal - we appreciate both the flavor and the health benefits!

Yep! I converted my SO early on. We cook together often -- awesome, primal meals -- and play, and generally enjoy an active life. He can't get over how lean he is and how his hunger spikes have disappeared...and he's only about 80%!

I can only imagine how hard it would be to date someone who didn't at least respect my primal lifestyle. Even being with someone who respected the lifestyle, but didn't live it, would be tough in a lot of ways. How do those of you who are in such relationships deal with it? Curious!

haha @ DWC... smooth.

I agree with the ladies - dating a primal gal is awesome! Seriously, to agree with iluvthors a primal couple
really knows how to make the most out of a great meal - we appreciate both the flavor and the health benefits!.

I also think that it is at least important that your SO respect what you are trying to do.

All in all, food is a pleasure, albeit a functional pleasure, and pleasures should be enjoyed with others!

Ha ha. People crack me up when they talk about this on Marks Daily Apple. Everyone wants to convert their mate to paleo! We want them to feel as good as we do I suppose...
Right now I am working on converting my brother, mom, and dad. Then it is on to a boyfriend. For us ladies this might be easier. Do you want steak for breakfast?? I don't know many men who would disagree!

On a related topic, does Primal Sex exist?

Does UN-primal sex exist? How dull. ;)

What makes it primal--a leaf instead of latex?

Well - you could use animal based products like sheep skin condoms or no condom rather than latex... I can think of other more graphic things to write but will avoid. All in all, this is probably not a worthwhile topic to discuss.

This is a great forum though. Very impressed with how quickly people have generated thoughtful discussion.

@Barbeygirl, you asked how someone deals with living Primally when their SO does not...

I started doing the Primal thing about a month or so ago - my wife is not on-board with the whole thing (she's a medical professional, so CW is a bit hard for her to break away from). She's supportive, to an extent, but it comes down to a lot of discussion and compromise. It can be difficult and frustrating at times (SUPREMELY frustrating) to deal with the temptations as I look through the fridge at all the non-primal goodies she has packed away for her and the kids. Or to deal with the constant questioning of the reasoning and logic behind what I'm doing.

I would be lying if I told you that there was not the occasional tear shed over the whole thing.

Here's the bottom line though - I started this thing after coming back from Afghanistan. I was deployed in a staff billet (think 18 hours a day sitting in an Operations Center in front of radios and computers - I literally went 8 months without seeing the sun). I lifted as often as I could, but still gained weight - I was 274 pounds when I came home on the 21st of Feb. I'm 256 two months later. I'm faster, and ironically stronger, and my wife is beginning to notice it's "working." I feel better than I have in YEARS - and she knows it. In the end, it may seem childish, but I plan on using my success as empirical proof that I've made the smarter choice.

In the end, it comes down to patience. How bad do I want it? I rambled a bit - hope I answered your question though.
