Get Primal

Greetings all! I've been posting here for a while and just realized I never put out an intro. Ultramarathon runner converted to primal just over a year ago. A bit different experience, have actually gained over 20 lbs since going primal and love every ounce of it. I was an ultrarunner that was very thin and had lost all my strength. A primal diet and high intensity exercise has put muscle back on faster than I ever imagined possible.

Diet is very heavy carnivore, very low carb. Exercise is the occasional run (primarily for social reasons) combined with Crossfit style workouts and sprints several times a week. Working out about 10 hours less per week than when I was running and am in much better shape, imagine that! Turning 40 soon and in best shape of my life, as others have said age is nothing more than a number.

We have a workout thread under 'Community Experiments' where I've invited people to view my blog. I track my workout results there and encourage others to give them a try and post their results too...come on over! www.getprimal.blogspot.com.

GP - Really enjoying your workouts, and having you on the forum. Looking forward to being challenged by you. Where in the world do you live? Somewhere where you can be outside a lot?

Also - you gained 20 lbs, has your bodyfat % remained about the same?

Live in Minnesota...so the enjoyable outdoor season is about to end for the next several months. That's not really true though, you can have a lot of fun outdoors in the winter. Ice fishing season! I would bet my BF % is lower now than it was 20 lbs ago, although I don't measure. I still wear the same jeans as back then, just fill them out better in the legs.

Hi there, Get Primal!

pkafka just turned me on to some of your workouts. I'll give one of them a try next week and let you know my reaction.

Also checked out your blog and I'm diggin' it. Best of luck in the rowing competition. Those 2000m times look pretty darn good to me. I'll be rooting for you and very interested to see how you do. Are you tracking your diet along the way to see how it correlates with performance?
