Hello all! I tend to be more of a lurker on forums, but lately I'm very taken back by the harshness that I'm seeing on other forums (for example MDA) and even some of the well known primal websites (just a few minutes ago in the comments section on Free the Animal, regarding this forum). As a matter of fact, one of the reason that I decided to come over here was in hope that the rude Groks/Grokettes would stay where they are and not taint this forum.

Since when did everyone have to be primally perfect and according to someone else's idea of primal perfection? I'm all for sharing ideas, input and advice; and while there will always be people out there who may not agree, I do expect a certain degree of mutual respect which I don't always see in the primal community. My way or the highway isn't going to get the word out there to the general public about how to make healthy changes.

Amen, sister.

I've thought I was right before...and learned I was wrong. I try to bear this in mind when I think others are wrong! :)

Question everything -- your own ideas and others' -- but for goodness sake, be polite about it!

Primal Mama,

Thanks for the thoughtful post. This forum was founded with an open mind, and will continue to have one. Chadwick and I started this forum to learn, not preach. We both read a lot, and we often read a lot of conflicting opinions. We wanted to start a community where all ideas could be discussed openly. Thus far, we both tend towards a primal lifestyle, in fact I think Chadwick is even a bit more primal than me (rarely consumes fruits, eats more fat), but we are both open to testing our beliefs, with the intention of furthering them, and our health.

To everyone - please continue to ask questions, answer questions (even if your answer is an opinion). This forum should serve as a platform for all of us to learn.

-pk

On a side note, we now have about 60 members!

I agree to a certain extent with you Primal Mama. But at the same time, I think the majority of any rudeness or what have you in the primal community mainly comes from frustration with the status quo. It is just dumbfounding to me to hear some of the stuff that is spouted my mainstream media, doctors, etc--and sometimes it pisses me off! Just blatant lies about stuff. And sometimes, to help get the primal point across, it takes being straightforward [see here (http://freetheanimal.com/2009/11/paleo-pussies.html)].

I have to say though, I have become more accepting and open-minded in a lot of ways. First, I was by no means a believer in primal/paleo coming into this--that itself has helped. And secondly, I do not want to get stuck on primal/paleo at all costs--I keep doing research, I keep reading and talking to people, because who knows, there might be something better out there. I do not believe there is, but I see how stuck the mainstream is with the SAD, and I do not want to fall into that dogmatic mind set.

Hi Primal Mama! Some times things can come out sounding harsh when they’re not meant to because we’re typing and not talking, but yeah, I know what you mean…other times, it doesn’t seem like there is any doubt! I totally agree with the sharing of ideas, input and advice. Studies and other like info has it’s place for sure but there is also a personal touch here because as pk mentioned, opinions are welcome here as well, thankfully!!! I think that makes a difference in the feel of a place. As far as the forum bashing goes elsewhere…I haven’t read it but, hmm, sounds like head hunters, eek! I think I’ll stay clear! :)
